Cours Lapin
- Four recognized film composers meet in a timeless musical adventure in French. The Danish film composers, Louise Alenius, Asger Baden, Peder, and Jonas Struck, meet to create their own universe without commercial compromises, this meeting became the creation of Cours Lapin and a timeless and beautiful debut album with eleven French songs. Cour Lapin’s unusual combination of words, tones and accents leads us into a theatrical underworld consisting of French adventure shaped by the old ‘chanson’ tradition. The moods of the album move from the dark and sensual to the naive and encouraging and are reminiscent of an atmosphere only found in Tim Burton and David Lynch films; one minute you are initiated in the rites and mysterious intrigues surrounding a murder scene in the 50s, and in the next you’re following strange creatures on strings in a 20th century puppet theater. The music is beautiful and gloomy with catchy melodies. The acoustic instruments are supplemented with few underplayed electronic elements, which creates an intense atmosphere around Louise Alenius’ fragile and melancholy voice and lyrics. Where the songs Mes larmes secrets (My secret tears) and 1,2,3 are delivered with a classic innocence, Cache-cache (Hide and seek) and Cours lapin (Bunny run) mix jazzy nightclub sounds with a couple of old-school surf-riffs. Cours Lapin played The Spot Festival in Århus and Roskilde Festival earlier this year and both concerts received very good reviews. A small Danish tour is currently being arranged. The record is produced by Peder and was released in Denmark on Lizard Shakedown / Fake Diamond Records / Art People October 12th 2009.
