In 1986, three students of the Theatre and Variety Artist Department at the Gnesin Academy of Music made up their minds to create a vocal trio with a view to bring Russian vocal culture and music to public attention. In March 1987, the trio began to give concerts in Moscow. Its repertoire varies from Russian folk songs, old romances, chamber and ensemble music, and classical music to the songs specially written for the trio. Many of the songs are sung a cappella, and every song is infused with the singers’ love and respect for Russian artistic traditions. What is special about the trio is its Russian manner of singing, accurate attitude to the word and melody, sincerity and unerring taste. The vocalists’ artistic skill, devotion to the Russian tradition of singing, diligence and artistry has won the gratitude of audiences both in Russia and abroad. There are more than 50 countries on the trio’s tour map. Among them are Switzerland, South Korea, Greece, Egypt, Israel, Italy, Spain, China, Thailand, Algeria, Australia, Austria, Cuba, Mongolia and so on.Invitations of the trio to international musical festivals testify to the appreciation of its work. The artists took part in the East-West Festival, Cristina Yamroz Festival in Poland, the Light of Bethlihem-2000 in Israel, Dalyansky Musical Festival, Forward into the Future in China, the One-Hundredth Anniversary of Algeria and many others. The trio had the title of the Golden Voices of Russia conferred on it by the Greek musical press. Every year the trio Relikt takes part in the concerts held as part of the Days of Russian Culture in many countries of the world. These include Portugal, Vietnam, Azerbaijan, Kirgizia, Kazakhstan, the Ukraine, China and others. For fifteen years of their concert activity the artists have prepared more than 15 concert programs, including Old Russian Romances, S. Yesenin’s Verses Set to Music, Russian Folk Songs, Classical Melodies of Russian and Foreign Composers, Songs of the Peoples of the World and others. The trio effectively cooperates with many artistic collectives such as the Osipov National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments, the State Academic Choreographic Ensemble Beriozka under the direction of M. Koltsova, the State Academic Dance Theatre Gzhel under the direction of V. Zakharov, the Moscow State Dance Ensemble Russian Seasons under the direction of N. Androsova and many others.
