by Tony Wilds It is obvious that RCA did not know what to do with Xavier Cugat. In Spain is fine if you like the kind of syncopated cha cha cha of dance-instruction albums. And it is mildly impressive that anything fresh could be done with the classics of the bullfight ring. But these are not impressive recordings. A rocking version of "Ritual Fire Dance" and a modish "Playera" are the only sparks, apart from a sprinkling or two of electric guitar. "Spain Goes Cha Cha Cha" would have been a better title.
