这是一张非常值得收藏的唱片，其实，威廉斯自20世纪90年代之后的全新唱片都是非常精彩的。众所周知，Sony唱片公司旗下有两位著名的John Williams，唱片的标题似乎在提醒人们，这就是那位吉他演奏家——约翰·威廉斯。唱片中，威廉斯有意识地偏离了古典和浪漫时期的吉他作品风格，而是选择了一些偏向于地中海东岸和中世纪特色的作品，包括了希腊歌曲作家Theodorakis的"Three Epitafios"，法国反浪漫派作曲家Satie的“**歌舞”等钢琴改编作品，不知名中世纪作曲家的三首旋律以及多米尼康尼带有强烈东方玄秘色彩的科庸巴巴组曲等等。另外，值得一提的是威廉斯自己创作的吉他协奏曲——风神组曲，事先，威廉斯还谨慎地匿名征求了不少朋友的意见，在倍受肯定之后才收录到这张专辑之中。
