I started writing this song in September 2012 with a friend of mine. He was reading out song titles that he had in his notepad and as soon as he said, "Burn the Roses", that title stuck out to me. I was holding my guitar and I started humming out the melody. In a couple of minutes we had the hook written. I think a lot of people will be able to relate with this song because falling in love young is something many people go through. Whether it be a high school sweetheart or a college relationship, the question is always, "will we stand the test of time?" In this song, I didn't. I changed, she changed, time passed and we started to drift away from each other. But that's life, and I just thought I would address that topic a little in this song. Hope you enjoy it. I hope it touches you as much as it did me when I wrote it!
