Haole Mackerel - The Lost Tin Can Mailman Tapes
These tapes were salvaged off the coast of Maui, found in what is known as a Tin Can Mailman (the term refers to the Hawaiian Islands original postal system. When there was no safe harbor where mail ships could dock, mail for the islanders was inserted into tin cans and thrown into the ocean. The strongest swimmers were elected to fetch the cans. The tradition continued until sharks ate the last mail swimmer). After much haggling with the native customs bureau, I was given the tapes to digitally restore the best I could, and in the words of the Maui Elders, "Let Samy swim with the sharks and maybe he can survive and restore a spirit of joy to the Haole Nation". So here it is Chum...Eat or Be Eaten!
