The main artistic idea of the project was to explore a dynamic fusion of Suzy&2´s musical expression in combination with original compositions based on Indian classical ragas and rhythm cycles. The combination of jazz guitar, bass and vocals with the exotic mbira / kalimba, tabla and the Indian classical vocal style; Khyal, manifested itself in a new musical expression with strong elements from the three continents that composer Cecilie Giskemo has for the past 5 years been affiliated with: Europe, Africa and Asia. The project mainly collaborated on a further development of previous original compositions composed for and used by Suzy&2. Furthermore, there were 5 compositions composed especially for this collaboration. Each compositions was based on a different ragas and rhythmic cycles, and the intention was to create a fusion of Indian classical and jazz inspired harmonies and melodies. Common to both forms of music is the important element of improvisation, where the raga and rhythmic cycles function as the basis for both the pre-composed, as well as improvised material. The project aims to gather focus around the merging of non-traditional and traditional instruments, and musicians from different countries are encouraged to use his or her individual creative interpretation to create a universal and nuanced musical expression.
