A Dark Room is written, arranged, performed, produced, and mixed by Douglas Clay. Lyrics and vocals by Melody. Upon winning a singing contest in the Phillippines at the age of 11, Melody knew music was her calling. As a performer she inspired a deep personal connection with the audience, which is remarkable at such a young age. By the age of 16 Melody was recording national favorites. At 22 she was leading an R&B band. It was during this period that Melody realized music was therapeutic and so she began writing. She continues to write and perform live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Douglas' compositions are best described as electro-acoustic orchestrations with an unusual use of counterpoint and textures. His music can be tender, mystical, and beautiful, and develop into a grand climax where numerous tracks are working in concert. Many of his works empathize with the listener by going to where they are, emotionally speaking. It may begin with a pensive section that develops into a joyful, conquering mood. Many say they are “transported” to better place while hearing his music. Douglas continues to perform live on keyboards and work as a studio musician and producer in the San Francisco Bay Area.
