Fools Paradise
B Young is bringing her unique vocal stylings to Gavin Christopher Wright's "Fool's Paradise" first performed by Rufus and Chaka Khan. Bertha Young- Poteat also known as "B. Young" was born in Winnsboro, South Carolina and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina. Bertha attended North Carolina A&T University, but later decided to pursue her music career. In the summer of 1987, she joined a band named Covacus replacing National Recording Artist Barbara Weathers. In 1988 leaving Covacus Bertha became a member of Kids Band of Winston Salem, North Carolina, and touring exclusively with East Coast Entertainment. Fall of 1992, Bertha became a part of Sweet Dreams Band, but felt in 2004 it was time for her to venture out on her own as B. Young Productions, which was comprised of Vocalist Bertha Young- Poteat, pianist/keyboardist Turner Battle, bassist Leroy Roberson and drummer Micheal pitts. Originally orientating her style in R&B; Bertha mostly emphasizes smooth jazz in her performances. Bertha headlined in “Harlem Nights The Cotton Club” with Melva Houston. Over the years “Bertha has opened and performed with several national recording Artists which include; Patti Labelle, Frankie Beverly and Maze, Phyllis Hyman, Boney James, Melva Houston, Cameo, Midnight Star, Jeffrey Osborne, Ronnie Laws, Regina Bell, Bob Baldwin, Heavy “D” and the Boys, Ashford and Simpson, Earth Wind and Fire, just to name a few. Bertha has been performing in the Triad and all over the country for approximately 20 years, and is currently in the studio working on her CD project "Finally B." due to be released soon. Bertha and her husband Roderick have 2 beautiful children ages, 12 & 4.
