It is the first new music in six years from British superstar, marking her return after a long hiatus. "Easy on Me" was inspired by her divorce from Simon Konecki, which was finalized earlier this year. She wrote the song in 2024. The original music video for "Easy on Me" was filmed in Quebec, and directed by Xavier Dolan who had previously worked with Adele on her 2015 single "Hello" video. Adele walks in and out of the same house in these videos.
