Tahloumbi
Lissa is a Sydney artist who has graced the scene for a number of years now. She has worked with some of the best Australians in the business. Having been mentored by Darren Percival, supported Diesel and sang alongside Clare Bowditch in her Winter Secrets Tour, won a day’s workshopping with Katie Noonan, supported and accompanied Mark Wilkinson numerous times over the years and wrote 2012 single ‘Dreams of You and I' with Patrick James – Lissa has quietly achieved. More importantly, she has consistently delivered songs straight from the heart with melodies that are left to float around long after she's delivered them. Lissa released a three part series of EPs named 'small steps' over the years of 2010-2012 with her single 'Dreams of You and I' achieving #6 on the Triple J Unearthed indie charts. 2016 is set to see Lissa release a new collection of songs in an EP titled 'Tahloumbi'. “I have mostly been honest in penning words to paper...but smoke and mirrors have been there, I just haven’t been quite aware.” Lissa sings these words with vulnerability but not without strength. Recorded at a property in the Blue Mountains named ‘Tahloumbi’, Lissa has been calling this place her second home since childhood. “It was fitting for me to find a haven here and to record and name the EP after the property. The landscape inspires me and offers respite. I felt like I could come back after the process with something to offer people that was truly genuine." Having performed at numerous festivals and venues around the country, Lissa is now looking forward to a line up of intimate shows to showcase her new EP, which hints at influences of Fionn Regan & Iron and Wine. "I love busking, I love performing to a loungeroom with twenty people or on the stage. I plan to keep doing all of those things because most music is made to be shared and should be done so generously. When we share, we help to shed some of the isolation."
