1. Happy Kwanzaa is a song that expresses the honor and the pride of African Heritage at Kwanzaa time combining the delicate sound of the harp and voice. This compositional choice was done to help broaden the idea that African music and instrumental textures vary from hard percussion to melodic strings. Kujichagulia-Self Determination was written to help simplify the pronunciation of the 2nd Principle of Kwanzaa. Its 7/4 rhythm pattern also introduces the idea that odd rhythms are often utilized in African music. A capella vocals are all sung by Maia (except for the bass voice sung by Shawn Wallace)
