Michael Upshaw he landed his first engagement singing with renounce Jazz legends, Don Paterson, Hank Mobley, Charles Frambrough, Richard "Groove" Holmes, Bootsie Barnes and the late Bobby Durham, drummer for Ella Fitzgerald and Oscar Peterson. His voice uniquely mixes sounds reminiscent of Teddy Pendergrass, Lou Rawls, Barry White and jazz legend Johnny Hartman. Michael has done backup for former lead singer of the Temptations Glenn Leonard, Lance Quinn Project (Bon Jovi), Russell Thompkins (Stylistics), duet's with legendary R&B artist Jean Carne on her cd project Flash Back. Michael's career has been marked with tremendous highlights. He made Playbill on three separate occasions, including once for his role in the "Buddy Bolden Story" written by Tony Award winner Joseph A. Walker, and twice for his lead and singing role in "Essentially Ellington," at the Harold Prince Theater in Philadelphia, PA.
