BIOGRAPHY michelangelo The typically arid Arizona night was filled with close to 80,000 voices, each screaming out in response to Bono's question, "Who wants to play my red guitar?" On this January night, U2 was wrapping up their North American Joshua Tree tour with two sold out performances at Tempe, AZ's Sun Devil Stadium. A lone voice amidst thousands, Michelangelo remembers an inexplicable and urgent desire to grab the red guitar and join the band. The experience triggered a passion in his heart which began nearly two decades of musical journeys. Shortly after this experience, Michelangelo formed one of the West's premier alternative Christian rock bands, Michelangelo and The Difference. The band's self-described style of "remo rock" (short for reflective modern rock) captured the musical inventiveness of bands like U2 and Radiohead and the lyrical acuity of artists like Elvis Costello. Their CD releases, "Mercy Suit" and "Under Rower", have garnered fans throughout the world as they have been distributed throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe by some of the biggest players in the music industry: Warner Electric Atlantic (WEA), Alliance, and BMG. But these many years have not been spent trying to become rock stars. "Everything's worth it when we see individuals tune deep into what's being said at our shows," says Michelangelo. Now, years after this first desire to perform, Michelangelo's guitar is busy again. With the release of Michelangelo’s latest, self-produced recording, “AIRPLANES”, Michelangelo sees a bright future as a solo artist and songwriter. The record cover reflects an amazing aerial photo of downtown Phoenix, the home he loves. Being a native of Arizona and growing up in the Glendale area he has set his sights on playing more local shows and entertaining his home crowd. Michelangelo states the new recording, “AIRPLANES”, is “a project about finding hope. It’s kind of like traveling through a dark tunnel and your 3/4th of the way out. You can see light at the end but you’re not there yet.” Excepts From the song “Fragile My Heart” So Fragile my heart Fragile this day Fragile this dream to take me away I hold onto love as fast as I can The red light has changed now I understand That it’s you I cannot live one moment here without And it’s you, the winter rains and summers heats the night Excerpts from “Skipping To The End” There’s no point in going back I’d rather stay right here The embers of the night the terror and the fear Yesterday was falling down like towers from a flight You showed me there’s golden way of steadiness tonight Now I, I found healing beyond believing in this world ************** P.O.
