This Side of Promise
Draheim and Hall songs are written in the singer songwriter tradition. First, they start the writing process with piano vocal, and then, they build from there. Hall believes that the purer a song the better it is; melody and harmony. And like a jazz ensemble the two constantly bounce back and forth on each others rhythmic vibe. And Draheim' s lyrics are carefully placed and deliberate. Fishbowl Vision (This Side of Promise) is a response to promises of devotion from a lover, promises of change from politicians and promises of change within oneself. The beat is reminiscent of early Motown with a modern sound. The bass is free flowing chasing Draheim's lilting voice. As the drum and piano keep a steady syncopated flow.
