Originally hailing from Hong Kong and Taipei, Al Rocco was tailored in London, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and now currently resides in Shanghai, China. Breaking stereotypes and changing cultures since 2010, Rocco has been in the frontier of Chinese Hip-Hop since his 2014 hit single “Red Money 人民币” and has been representing the Chinese culture internationally ever-since. His style of music is made up of Hip-Hop, Rap, Trap and RnB elements lyrically focusing on topics like; family, daily hustles, life struggles, club vibes, the Chinese culture, among others. Rocco has performed various music festivals; ULTRA (CN), STORM (CN), SXSW (US), Strawberry (CN), MIDI (CN), Spotlight (CN) and has opened shows alongside with international names; Seungri (Big Bang), Yao Ming (NBA), OT Genasis, OG Maco, Araabmuzik, Keith Ape, Sonny Digital, Paloalto, ASAP Mob (DJ), Jurassic 5, DJ Q-Bert, and more. In 2016, NBA all star Isaiah Thomas was featured on Rocco’s single “Ball Out” before he went on his 1st China tour 24K with Blow Fever; 13 cities in 30 days. In October 2016 and Feburary 2017, Al Rocco was featured in Beats by Dre’s “Got No Strings” global campaigns promoting wireless living with celebrities like; Pharrell Williams, Nicki Minaj, DJ Khaled, Travis Scott, Party Next Door, Michael Phelps and more. In 2015, Rocco was also featured in Beats by Dre’s “Straight Outta Somewhere” global campaign with Hong Kong legends, LMF. Al has worked closely with brands ranging from; Adidas Originals, SSUR, Redbull, Absolute, Chivas, American Apparel, Budweiser, G-Givenchy, Dienastie, Akenz and many more. Unlike your ordinary Chinese artist, Al writes and performs in English. After moving to China in 2012, Al has been diversifying his music with Mandarin and Cantonese. During the same year, Rocco’s first Cantonese single “In Da Club” was featured on “Sleeping Dogs” an Activision video game ranked in the top 10s. In 2015, his song “TT4” became the theme song for China's hit movie series “Tiny Times 小时代 4” (China’s Sex in the City). In 2016, his single “All On Me” became the theme song for “The Next Unicorn” a Chinese competition reality TV show. This year, Al released his first Mandarin single “Ying 赢” which got over 1 million plays in first 24 hours, current 2 million plus in China. After the release of his hit single “Red Money 人民币” in 2014, things began to move quickly for Al. He was on the international news titled “China’s red money to take on the greenback” which was featured everywhere; the New York Times, CNN, BBC, Bloomberg and more. In addition, he was also featured on WorldStarHipHop's “What it’s like being black in China” and Vice China’s “Strawberry Music Festival 2015 Shanghai” video. By the end of 2015, Rocco’s “Raised in China” and “Red Money人民币” mixtapes have been nominated top 50 albums of China by That’s Magazine and Timeout Shanghai. During the same time, he was ranked top 2 artist nationwide in China on the Hip-Hop charts with his single “Red Money 人民币” ranking number 1 on Xiami, China’s Spotify and Soundcloud.
